WADENA, Minn. – Cordell Schott has been named the general manager of the Wadena Pioneer Journal, according to Publisher Dennis Winskowi.
And while Schott is new to Wadena and the Pioneer Journal, he is not new to Forum Communications Co. He started at The Forum of Fargo-Moorhead in sales as an intern in 1985 and worked his way up to regional account executive before he left in 1999 to join Great Plains Software in Fargo, N.D., as a district sales manager.
Schott is a native of Kulm, N.D., and he graduated from Enderlin (N.D.) High School before attending Minnesota State University Moorhead in Moorhead, Minn. He is married to Pam and they have three children, a son Collin who is attending North Dakota State University in Fargo, and daughters Kara who is attending Minnesota State University Moorhead and Laura who is attending the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities.
Schott replaces John Stone who served as an interim manager of the Pioneer Journal.
“I want to thank my predecessor, John Stone, who did an admirable job with the transition in leadership at the Wadena Pioneer Journal,” Schott said. “Our goal at the Pioneer Journal is to produce a strong newspaper for the community to be informed by and enjoy. Wadena is important to Forum Communications, and I am glad to be in Wadena and back with the company.”
The Wadena Pioneer Journal is owned by Forum Communications. Forum Communications is a multimedia information company based in Fargo, and owns dozens of newspapers, websites and television and radio stations, and commercial printing plants in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
