DULUTH, Minn. – The Duluth News Tribune has promoted Mike Mazzio to advertising director and Kathleen Pennington to senior advertising manager, Publisher Ken Browall announced.
Mazzio replaces former Duluth News Tribune Ad Director Roz Randorf, who left to take the advertising director position with Fargo, N.D.-based Forum Communications Co. which owns the Duluth News Tribune.
Mazzio, who has a background in finance, advertising and digital media assumes his position immediately.
Pennington, who also immediately assumes her position, has a wealth of advertising experience at both the Duluth News Tribune and community newspapers.
Together, the two will manage the advertising staff for the Duluth News Group, including the Duluth News Tribune, Duluth Budgeteer, Superior Telegram, Cloquet Pine Journal, Lake County News Chronicle and Northland Smart Shoppers in Superior, Cloquet and the North Shore.
“Mike’s background in both finance and advertising as well as his excellent digital skills make him the right candidate for the position,” Browall said in an email to News Tribune staff. “Mike will be an asset to the Duluth Group senior management team and I look forward to his contributions.”
He added that Pennington will strengthen the group’s advertising management as well.
“Kathleen’s strong management and coaching skills make her the ideal person to lead our retail sales team,” Browall wrote.
The Duluth News Tribune is owned by Forum Communications Co. Forum Communications is a multimedia information company based in Fargo, and owns dozens of newspapers, websites and television and radio stations, and commercial printing plants in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
